Privacy policy
LocalCast is designed so that your content never reaches us. This page explains exactly what the apps do with data.
What stays on your devices
- Your slides, photos, videos, scripts and queue settings go from your phone directly to your TV over your local Wi-Fi, encrypted. They are stored on the TV only. We have no server and cannot see them.
- Pairing keys and the TV passcode are stored on your devices, protected by the Android Keystore. The TV stores only a one-way verifier of the passcode, never the passcode itself.
- The TV app makes no internet connections.
What the phone app shares
- Advertising (free version only). The free phone app shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and approximate usage data to serve and measure ads, and shows a consent form where the law requires one (for example in the EEA and UK). You can change your choice in Settings → Ad privacy settings. Pro users never load the ads SDK.
- Purchases. Buying Pro goes through Google Play Billing. We receive no payment details; Google confirms the purchase on your device.
Permissions
- Local network access (and Wi-Fi state): to find your TV and talk to it. Used only on your own network.
- Notifications (TV): a quiet notification keeps the TV server running while the sign is on.
- Photos and videos: chosen through Android's photo picker, so LocalCast sees only the files you pick.
What we don't do
- No accounts, no sign-up, no email collection.
- No analytics or tracking in the TV app or in the phone app's own code.
- We do not sell data.
Children
LocalCast is a general-purpose utility not directed at children under 13.
Your choices
Unpair any phone or erase the TV from the TV menu at any time. Uninstalling the apps removes everything stored on that device.
